Smart Parking Systems: XMS Upgrades Lake Garda's Largest Parking Hub with FeniX.

At the end of March 2026, XMS completed the technological upgrade of Lake Garda's most spacious parking facility. A hybrid ecosystem combining the historic reliability of ESPAS with the cashless innovation of new FeniX stations, managing over 4,000 daily entries.

Smart Parking for Massive Tourist Flows
Limone sul Garda, a premier international tourist destination, requires paid parking management infrastructures capable of withstanding extreme operational stress. With approximately 1,000 total parking spaces, the site represents the largest parking hub on Lake Garda.
The area is strategically divided into three macro-structures: the Lakefront parking, the massive 7-level multi-story car park, and the 3-level Caldogno structure. Managing the mobility of this complex means handling traffic that, during seasonal peaks, reaches 4,000 entries per day.

The March 2026 Upgrade: Interoperability and Contactless Payment
For years, access control has been entrusted to the robustness of the XMS ESPAS 30 line, ensuring zero downtime. At the end of March 2026, to further speed up outflow ahead of the summer season, the Administration chose to carry out a targeted upgrade, introducing the new FeniX technology.
The true strength of XMS parking systems is their total backward compatibility. Without having to replace the entire system, the 5 ESPAS exit stations were replaced with 5 new FeniX exit stations equipped with Credit Card readers.

Today, the facility boasts a highly efficient hybrid setup:

• Speed at the gate with FeniX: Thanks to the new exit stations, users can make contactless payments directly at the barrier, bypassing the pay stations and eliminating exit queues.
• ESPAS Reliability: The 6 entry stations and 7 automatic pay stations continue to operate with ESPAS technology in perfect symbiosis with the new FeniX terminals, demonstrating the longevity of XMS hardware.
• Urban Traffic Management: The user experience is guided by 12 roadside LED panels integrated into the system, directing cars to available parking areas, and by approximately 800 single-space LED sensors, which indicate available spots on the various levels in real-time.

The Limone sul Garda installation is tangible proof that XMS parking automation systems are designed to evolve alongside customer needs. Integrating the FeniX line into an existing ESPAS system means protecting past investments while offering the latest digital payment technologies.
