World Premiere in Rome: FeniX Technology Debuts at Sant’Andrea Hospital

The "trial by fire" for the new XMS generation takes place in the Capital. The University Hospital chooses the reliability of the FeniX line to manage critical flows of 4,000 vehicles per day.

Rome – There are projects that serve to test a technology, and projects that consecrate its immediate maturity. The installation at the Sant’Andrea University Hospital belongs to the latter category. It is here, in one of the centers of excellence for Italian healthcare and academic research—a leading institution in Europe for prestige and innovation—that the new FeniX line by XMS has made its absolute global debut.

Even before reaching foreign markets, FeniX was called upon to respond to a complex operational challenge in the heart of Italy, demonstrating that innovation, reliability, and efficiency can travel at the same speed.

A Center of Excellence, A High-Intensity Challenge

Sant’Andrea is not just a hospital: as the home of the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology of "La Sapienza" University, it is a city within a city. Located in a strategic point between North Rome and the province, it serves a vast catchment area.
Managing parking here means dealing with staggering numbers (between 3,000 and 4,000 daily transits) and, above all, with a diverse user base often experiencing moments of urgency or emotional stress. In this scenario, the parking system cannot afford errors: it must be fluid, immediate, "invisible," and operational 24/7.

The Configuration: Power and Multimedia Assistance

To guarantee the 24/7 operational continuity required by such a critical health facility, XMS deployed its most complete and resilient configuration. The system, the first in the world to feature FeniX technology, consists of:

  • 3 FeniX IN Entry Stations and 2 FeniX OUT Exit Stations, equipped with advanced traffic management logic.
  • Powerful internal CPU for flow optimization and queue reduction, especially during peak hours.
  • High-performance electromechanical barriers that open in just 0.7 seconds.
  • High-brightness 7” touch displays.

The columns are also equipped with high-visibility LED top covers, designed to make entrances and exits immediately identifiable, improve safety and orientation even in low light conditions, and aesthetically integrate into a modern urban context.

FENIX PAY Automated Pay Stations: Inclusive Technology

Supporting the system are 2 FENIX PAY automated pay stations in Top configuration, a precise choice for a heterogeneous public environment like a hospital.
Unlike exclusively cashless contexts, here technology must be accessible to everyone:

  • Complete electronic payments (cards, contactless, smartphones).
  • High-capacity banknote and coin reading and recycling modules (up to 3,000 coins).
  • Greater operational autonomy and automatic device restart in case of jams.
  • Drastic reduction in emptying and refilling interventions.

The result is a reliable, continuous system truly suited for a 24/7 public service.

FeniX: Technology that "Speaks" to the User

The real leap in quality for Sant’Andrea users lies in the interface. The FeniX line introduces a concept of "Human-Centric Parking".
Thanks to the large 15.6" touch displays on the pay stations and 7" screens on the columns, the system does not just ask for payment but guides the user. Through 3D videos and voice instructions, interaction becomes extremely simple even for less tech-savvy users, the elderly, or occasional visitors, reducing intercom assistance requests and speeding up outflow.

XMS: Technological Reliability and Speed of Execution

Being chosen by an institution linked to one of the oldest universities in Europe ("La Sapienza") is a quality certification worth as much as an international award.
The Sant’Andrea project confirms XMS's ability to intervene in critical infrastructural contexts with rapid execution times and tailored technical support.
With this "Number One" in Rome, XMS has not just installed a parking lot: it has defined the new standard of welcome for healthcare facilities. If FeniX can handle Sant’Andrea, it can handle any challenge.
