XMS FeniX Smart Paid Parking Systems: Green Mobility Meets Innovation at the Valle dei Casali Nature Reserve.

In the green heart of Rome, XMS signs the new parking facility adjacent to the Tram 8 terminus. A concentration of FeniX technology designed to eliminate queues, cut emissions, and seamlessly integrate into a 469-hectare natural ecosystem.

A New Technological Piece in the RomaNatura "Mosaic"
Established in 1997, the Valle dei Casali Nature Reserve is a 469-hectare green lung set within the urban fabric of the Capital. Following the approval of the 2015 Master Plan by the Lazio Region, the RomaNatura Authority launched a forward-looking "mosaic" planning strategy: a broad vision where each area, while maintaining its identity, contributes to enhancing the entire ecosystem.

Today, in this mosaic of nature, history, and urban regeneration, XMS has inserted a crucial technological piece, transforming the strategic Casaletto interchange hub into a model of eco-sustainable Smart Mobility.

The Challenge: A High-Traffic, Low-Impact Infrastructure
The project area is a private parking lot strategically located next to the Tram 8 terminus at Casaletto. This site has recently undergone an extensive renovation aimed at reducing its environmental footprint, from lighting to ecological paving.
The parking facility acts as a true "Park Gateway": it hosts an equipped garden and a Reserve info-point, from which picturesque pedestrian paths wind through Via del Forte Bravetta and Via dei Troiani, leading up to the historic Villa York Estate.

To manage the mixed flow of commuters (Tram 8 users) and tourists (Reserve visitors) without creating polluting traffic jams, the property sought a fast, seamless, and cutting-edge automation solution. The answer could only be XMS's FeniX technology.

The Installed XMS Ecosystem: Power and Design for the Environment
To ensure flawless traffic flow both entering and exiting, the XMS team designed and installed a high-capacity system comprising:

  • 2 FeniX IN entry stations

  • 2 FeniX OUT exit stations

  • 1 FeniX PAY automatic pay station

  • 2 Smart pedestrian push button

The massive 8-lane configuration (4 entry, 4 exit) instantly absorbs traffic peaks, eliminating the phenomenon of idling vehicles queuing.

In this context, the FeniX system expresses its full potential:

  • Eco-sustainable Fluidity: The FeniX IN and OUT stations, thanks to lightning-fast QR Code ticket issuance and reading, alongside intuitive interfaces guided by 3D animations and high-visibility LEDs, reduce waiting times at the barrier to zero. Less time in queue means a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions, in perfect harmony with the Reserve's green vocation.

  • Premium User Experience: The FeniX PAY automatic pay station, equipped with a large 15.6" vandal-proof touch screen, guides the user (from daily commuters to foreign tourists) through a simple, multilingual, and instant payment process, accepting both cash and contactless/electronic payments.

  • Integrated Design: With their modern, clean, and elegant lines, the FeniX line cabinets blend into the architectural and natural surroundings without being intrusive, combining industrial aesthetics with the robustness required for 24/7 operations.

Innovating to Protect
The installation at the Valle dei Casali Park Gateway is concrete proof of the XMS mission: transforming urban and peri-urban mobility by offering intelligent and scalable solutions.
When technology is designed smartly, it stops being a disruptive element to the landscape and becomes the primary tool to protect it, optimizing spaces and improving the experience of those who live in and visit our nature reserves.
